Cattaraugus County Jury Information

Trial jurors should report to court ONLY when instructed.  Please review the reporting instructions below, or to hear a recorded message, please call 1-716-379-6655.

The NYS Unified Court System would like to assure you that your health and safety remain a top priority for us as we resume essential court operations,  including jury service. 

​

What to Expect When you Appear:   *** Your temperature will be taken prior to your entry into the building***

​

1.)  Regular cleaning of court facilities with enhanced cleaning of commonly used areas. 

2.)  Limited People in Courthouse.

3.)  Mandatory use of face masks by court personnel and court visitors

           - Please bring your own mask/face covering

4.)  Indicators may be present in public areas to ensure at least 6 feet, to meet social distancing standards, both while           sitting and standing

5.)  Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building for all court visitors

Please note the following:

​

1.)  Commissioner of Jurors will continue to provide jurors with public wi-fi.

2.)  Bring your own pen/pencil and take it with you when you leave.

3.)  Bring your own books or magazines

4.)  Jurors may bring their own resealable beverage and snack or food that does not require refrigeration.

As always if you have been summoned for jury duty or are serving on a jury and you are experiencing any symptoms of an illness:

  • Please do not appear at the courthouse for jury duty service. 

  • Please report your situation to the Commissioner of Jurors at the telephone number or email address listed below.  

  • Your service will be temporarily postponed until this health emergency has passed.

NOTICE FROM THE COMMISSIONER OF JURORS

For Grand jurors serving on the  OCTOBER 2, 2020  Panel, please be advised that you are required to report on the tentative date of WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2021. PLEASE CALL 716-379-6655 THE NIGHT BEFORE YOU ARE SCHEDULED TO REPORT FOR REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS.

For Grand Jurors summoned on FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 2021, you are summoned to serve as a telephone standby juror for Cattaraugus County. Your Jury service is expected to last through April 7, 2021. You are REQUIRED to call 716-379-6655 after 5pm on January 7, 2021 for reporting instructions. You will need your sequence number, which appears after your Jury Index Number for reporting instructions.

Everyone entering the building is required to have their temperature taken and wear a face mask. Face masks with filters on them are not permitted in the building. There is parking in the front of the building and additional parking in the rear however, everyone must enter through the front door.  The jury office has marked all seating spaces in the court room to ensure that jurors can maintain their social distancing.

All jurors please make certain that you have completed the information form on the back of your summons, and bring it with you when you report for service. if you are employed, please include your work days, and hours for the week. No payments for jury service will be issued to eligible jurors if any information is missing or incomplete. If you have misplaced your form, another will be provided to you. Thank you for your cooperation, and willingness to serve.

General Information

Absence of Emergency: If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call at 716-379-6646 after 8:30 am on the day you are to report.

​

Accessibility: If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 716-379-6646 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.

​

Court Hours: Court normally operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 5:00 pm.

​

Electronics: Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly rooms and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial.  There is public access WIFI in the County courthouse.

​

Meals: There is a mid-day lunch break everyday.  Little Valley Location: YOU MAY BRING A BAGGED LUNCH, OR THERE IS A SNACK BAR ON THE FIRST FLOOR THAT SERVES A DAILY LUNCH SPECIAL.

​

Parking/Transportation: The court does not pay for transportation fares, parking fees or parking violations.  Little Valley Location:  THERE ARE 2 PARKING LOTS FOR JUROR USE, THE MAIN PARKING LOT LOCATED ON THE CORNER OF 8TH STREET AND COURT, AND THE REAR PARKING LOT LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE COUNTY BUILDING.

Security: Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  Members of the public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.
