Trial jurors should report to court ONLY when instructed.  Please review the reporting instructions below. Your juror number can be located on the front of your summons on the left hand side under the bar code. It is the shorter number separated by a space from your 9-digit juror index number.

  • In light of public health concerns arising over the coronavirus, please note the following:

  • If you have been summoned for TRIAL JURY SERVICE, beginning on March 16th and continuing until further notice:

  • Please do not appear at the courthouse.  Your service has been suspended at this time.  You will hear from us in the future with another date for service.

  • If you are a juror currently serving on:

  •              a Grand Jury (CURRENT SERVING GRAND JURORS: Tuesday Group and Friday Group)

  •                              You are required to continue your service

  •                    Please read below regarding messages for Tuesday and Friday Group

  •  Tuesday Grand Jurors. We will update regarding your grand jury term via email.          

  • The Friday Grand Jury Session (LAST SESSION) for Friday 3/27/20 has been canceled.

Please note: We cannot accept template excusal notes from a doctor's office. A medical excusal request is a multi-step process that first begins with a discussion with the Commissioner of Jurors. You may contact us at 518-267-3160.

General Information

 

Absence of Emergency: If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call at 518-267-3160 after 8:30 am on the day you are to report. You can also email columbiajury@nycourts.gov. On jury selection days, we are not able to answer the phones. Please be patient. We will return your call or email.

Accessibility: If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 518-267-3160 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.

Court Hours: Court normally operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 5:00 pm.  You cannot enter the building before 8:45 am.

Electronics: Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly rooms and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial.  There is public access WIFI in the County courthouse. 

Meals: There is a mid-day lunch break everyday.

Parking/Transportation: The court does not pay for transportation fares, parking fees or parking violations.  Reporting jurors are discouraged from parking at parking meters as court schedules may not permit you to replenish the meter.

Security: Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  Members of the public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.
