         This message is intended for those Grand Jurors who were summoned to appear on Tuesday, November 17th and asked to check in today for your reporting instructions.

 

       PLEASE BE ADVISED that you continue to be on "Stand-by".  You do not need to report at this time, however, we are requesting that you call in again on Wednesday, December 23rd, after 5:00 p.m. for further updates and reporting instructions.

All Jurors –

  •  Face masks are required in the Courthouse facility.  Please be certain to wear your face mask upon arrival at the facility. 

  • Please be certain to fill out your Jury Summons and bring it with you to Court on Monday when you report. 

  • Please be certain to bring a pen or pencil with you to fill out any and all paperwork. 

  • Stairs will be the main access to the 2nd Floor of the Courthouse.  If you unable to take the stairs an elevator is available for your use, however, only 2 people are allowed on the elevator at any given time.

  • In the event your Grand Jury session runs through the lunch hour, it is recommended that you bring a snack or non-refrigerated lunch with you.

  • Once the Grand Jury is selected, cell phones will be collected.  Cell phones are not allowed in the Courtroom during deliberations.  Cell phones will be available to you during breaks.  If you do not need your cell phone, you are welcome to leave it in your vehicle.

  • Parking is available behind the Lowville Fire Hall, next to the Village Park area.  If you are handicapped, and have a handicapped sticker, we can make accommodates for you at the gated parking area, or you are welcome to use the handicapped parking areas designated around the Courthouse.

     The NYS Unified Court System would like to assure you that your health and safety remain a top priority for us as we resume essential court operations, including Jury Service.

​

What to Expect When You Appear:

       Regular deep cleaning of court facilities with enhanced cleaning of commonly used areas.

    -     Limited People in Courthouse.

    -     Mandatory use of face masks by Court Personnel and Court Visitors.

          * Please bring your own mask/face covering

    -    Plexiglass barriers may be present at various locations (i.e. magnetometers, x-ray machines,             assembly room desks).

    -    Indicators, like blue tape, may be present in public areas to ensure physical distance of  at               least 6 feet (to meet social distancing standards).

    -    Hand sanitizer for all court visitors.

Please Note the Following:

    -   Commissioner of Jurors will continue to provide Jurors with public wi-fi.

    -   Bring your own pen/pencil and take it with you when you leave.

    -   Bring your own books/magazines/electronic devices and chargers.

    -    Jurors may bring their own resealable beverage and snack or food that does not require                   refrigeration.

General Information

​

Absence of Emergency: If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call at 315-376-5317 after 8:30 am on the day you are to report.  

​

Accessibility: If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 315-376-5317 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.

​

Court Hours: Court normally operates from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 4:00 pm.

​

Electronics: Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly rooms and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial.  There is public access WIFI in the County courthouse.  There are also computer work stations in Law Library Research Room.  PLEASE NOTE:  For Grand Jurors, cell phones will be collected at the time of sign-in. If you do not wish to surrender your cell phones at sign-in, please leave them securely in your vehicle or at home.

Meals: There is a mid-day lunch break everyday.  There are various eating establishments within a two block vicinity, as well as, McDonald's and Arby's approximately 1.5 miles from the courthouse.

​

Parking/Transportation: The court does not pay for transportation fares, parking fees or parking violations.  Parking is available behind the Lowville Fire Hall, next to the Village Park Area.

​

Verification of Attendance: Jurors are required to sign in each day that they are present at the Courtroom.  An attendance certificate is printed on your summons and may be presented to the Commissioner of Juror's Office for certification as needed.

 

Security: Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  Members of the public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.

​

What to Bring to Court: Please be certain to completely fill out your Summons, sign it, and bring it with you to court, as well as, a pen or pencil.
