Notice from the Commissioner of Jurors regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

​

     In light of public health concerns arising over the coronavirus, please note the following:

​

     If you have been summoned for Trial jury duty, for any location in Ontario County beginning on       

     November 30, 2020 and continuing until further notice:

 

  • Please do not appear at the courthouse.

  • Your service has been temporarily postponed and will be rescheduled.

  • You will receive a new summons at a future date.

​

     If you have been summoned for Grand Jury:

​

  • If you are a juror currently serving on grand jury, you are required to appear to continue        your service

​​

     Please call or email the Commissioner of Jurors Office with further questions.

​

We never call and ask you for personal information.  NEVER give out personal information over the telephone.

General Information 

​

Absence Due To Emergency: If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call at 585-412-5298 after 9:30 am on the day you are to report.

​

Accessibility: If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 585-412-5298 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.

​

Court Hours: Court normally operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 5:00 pm.  * Please be advised the courthouse does not open until 8:30 a.m.

​

Electronics: Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly area and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial.  There is public access WIFI in the County courthouse. 

​

Meals: There is a mid-day lunch break everyday.

​

Parking/Transportation: The court does not pay for transportation fares, parking fees or parking violations.  Reporting jurors are discouraged from parking in time restrictive parking areas as court schedules may not permit you to move your vehicle at the required time to avoid a ticket.

​

Security: Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  Members of the public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.  Please do not bring sharp objects (nail file, knives, scissors, knitting needles, etc.)  they will be confiscated by Court Security and returned when you leave for the day.  

​

Jury Pay:  Please check with your employer as soon as you receive the summons.  We will collect the information when you report for your first day of service.
