General Information

Absence of Emergency: If illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call at 914-824-5620 after 8:30 am on the day you are to report.

Accessibility: If you have a disability and need accommodation, call 914-824-5620 or 1-800-662-1220 for relay call.

Attendance Verification: Jurors will be given a certificate of service as verification of their service.  This may be used for your employer, and for a 4 year exemption from Federal jury duty and a 6 year exemption from State and local jury service.

Court Hours: In case of inclement weather, listen to your local TV or Radio Stations, check website or call 914-825-5600 (select option #1) after 7:30 am on the day you are to report for jury duty, for information on court closings or court delays.  Court normally operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.  Court sessions rarely continue beyond 5:00 pm.  You cannot enter the building before 8:45 am.

Electronics: Cell phones and other electronic devices may be used in the jury assembly rooms and other waiting areas.  They must be turned off during jury selection and trial.  There is public access WIFI in the County courthouse.

Meals: There is a mid-day lunch break everyday.  There is a coffee shop in the courthouse lobby which has refreshments, soft drinks, bagels, rolls, sandwiches and snacks.  There are also many restaurants within walking distance of the courthouse and in the Mall located across the street.

Parking/Transportation: Jurors should park in the Library or Galleria Parking Garages,  located on Martine Ave. between South Lexington Ave. and Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. Park at a RED (12 hour) or BLUE (3 hour) meter and put in enough time on the meter to enable you to stay until 1:00 p.m.  Jury Duty may continue until 5:00 p.m., but you will have breaks during the day and will be able to add more time to your meter, if necessary. You will need your parking receipt with you to extend your time during the day. Please DO NOT leave it in the car. Oversized vehicles must use the Hamilton Ave. lot. Do NOT park on the street, as those meters will not provide sufficient time for jury selection. Once you are selected for a trial, FREE parking will be provided. The court does not pay for transportation, parking fees nor parking violations.

Grand Jurors: Use your juror index # (call in #) to determine the day and time you should appear at the courthouse. Your juror index # (call-in) is located in section H of the summons and near the bar code. Please put at least 4 hours on the parking meter.

Prior Service: If you have served on either Federal or City court within the past 6 years, please bring proof of service with you.

Security: Court Officers are stationed throughout the court.  All jurors and public must pass through a magnetometer to enter.  Please arrive early and allow extra time for this process.  Firearm, knives, scissors, pepper spray and dangerous instruments are prohibited in the court building and will be confiscated. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated in this effort to keep our facility and all court users safe.

ADVISORY WARNING: Please be advised that the NYS Unified Court System does not call, e-mail, nor mail prospective jurors to request financial information, such as credit card #s, bank accounts, Social Security #s, nor personal information about your family. DO NOT PROVIDE this kind of information to anyone claiming to represent the Court System.
